Help forWomen

Women of the Word Ministries promotes a safe & sober living arrangement for women. Our faith-based ministry offers spiritual mentoring and support to women who are transitioning from homelessness, a correctional or rehabilatation facility. Our mission is to equip them with support and resources needed to resist the former life style of drug use, prostitution, homelessness and incarceration.

The Big Picture

Jail can quickly become a revolving door for past offenders when it doesn't have to be. Our women are begging for help and aren't receiving any. If they're lucky, they may go to a rehab facility for 90 days, after which, they're on their own. With the prospects of getting a job being slim, the situation becomes even grimmer, and many end up in the same environment.

The Jordan House

The Jordan House will be a transitional home for women being released from jail or prison or leaving a rehab facility. It will be a secure place for them to get their lives in order through support resources including help with employment, education, housing and family reunification services.

Resource Center

Having served as community workers we have a lot of additional resources to offer to our new residents. In addition to the basics like food,  clothing, and shelter we want to ensure they have a support system in place to help them succeed.

Give and It Will Be Given Unto You

Get caught in a cause greater than yourself. The Bible says: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."—Luke 6:38

How To Give

We are looking for any type of gift at this time, including money and clothing. Once the house is prepared, we want to branch out by accepting food and furniture gifts. Please note that all donations are tax-deductible. You can give back through our website or through the mail at PO Box 43, Irvington, Alabama 36544. Periodically benefit sales are held to help support the ministry.   We invite you to donate items to sell to help fund our ministry. The funds raised go directly to supporting the ministry, the Jordan House  and the resources we offer and plan to provide the ladies we serve now and in the near future.  We are a non profit organization that is totally funded through donations.  Women of the Word Ministries is a non-denominational organization made up of volunteers with a heart to serve.

How To Volunteer

Speak with us directly to become a volunteer. We are currently in need of house mothers and assistance with running the home. There are no time commitments, and we only request that you have a heart to serve. Please note that background checks may be conducted.
